The Academic Research Institute in Iraq (TARII) provides fellowships for U.S. scholars researching Iraq-related topics. Currently, projects must be conducted outside of Iraq and the United States. TARII's U.S. fellowships are open to post-doctoral and advanced pre-doctoral researchers and for a variety of topics. Funds for research fellowships begin in March of each year.
These fellowships are funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs through a sub-grant from the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.
